Phage - Jet Battlemage and Blight Caster of Fireteam Lignite

History: LGNT 05 was born from Master Engineer Torbernite's curiosity with sources of magic outside gem's empire. Her daughters, the Jets of Fireteam Lignite, had collected countless of trinkets from around the galaxy during their conquests. Everything from talismans, spell tomes, enchanted artifacts, Torbernite studied them in the hopes of creating gems capable of wielding other forms of magic. The recent discovery of a planet brimming with an energy source the inhabitants referred to as "Mana" gave Torbernite the opportunity for a new experiment. She would simply build a small kindergarten on the planet to host a new Jet. Fortunately this planet hadn't been yet discovered by Homeworld and the inhabitants were kind enough to loan her a small piece of fertile land for her experiment. Torbernite theorized that a standard injector would not only drain the plot of land of its nutrients but it would also harvest the mana as it formed the new Jet. In addition to this, Torbernite also installed an additional injector to create storage stones made of the same material as the Jets to be given to them in order to see if it would allow them to harness mana. Both experiments were a success. Torbernite created a gem made of light and mana and the storage stones now infused with mana gave Fireteam Lignite command of this new power source once stored inside their gemstones. LGNT 05 and her sisters spent a considerable amount of time on this planet, learning how to use mana from the locals as well as sifting through Lux's vast digital library of spellbooks and histories collected over centuries of conquests. LGNT 05 was a natural at leaning new spells and would soon master the entirety of that library and become a highly essential member of the team who themselves have become adept at wielding magic but only focusing on spells that worked well with their natural abilities. 05 herself gravitated towards dark forms of magic favoring necromancy, and spells that attacked the magic. Her specialty however was Blight Magic, spells that caused debilitating and terminal sicknesses. She became a walking plague and this earned her the warname "Phage." The planet of her birth would eventually fall upon the eyes of the Diamonds and Phage and her Sisters would return there as conquerors. Phage herself would become Fireteam Lignite's most feared member.

Skills and Abilities: Phage herself is a vast library of arcane knowledge. Having studied magic for centuries, she has a spell for almost any situation whether it's casting an invisibility spell on her team before they infiltrate an enemy base or turning the enemy's fallen against themselves. When it comes to protracted wars however, Phage prefers casting curses that create irrecoverable and highly contagious plagues of which she and her team have immunized themselves. These plagues work on inorganic targets as well. While they are toxic to organics and cause major internal failures, Phage's plagues are highly corrosive to synthetic targets like enemy cyborgs and androids as well as geo-biological targets like golems and other gems. Following Fireteam tradition, Phage was also trained in hand-to-hand combat. This gives her a deceptive edge as she is usually chosen as the primary target during battle. Enemy combatants will close distance thinking she is merely the teams heavy support and incapable of close quarter engagements only to find themselves defeated at the end of her magestaff that she wields as skillfully as a spear.

Weapon: Phage wields an enchanted staff that focuses her magical abilities into concentrated points. For example, without the staff, she can summon a raging thunderstorm in order to cause heavy damage over a large area potentially neutralizing a considerable amount of enemy combatants. With the staff, she can harness the entire power of that storm and unleash it on a single target which is useful for neutralizing massive enemies. Lux would later outfit the staff with a gem destabilizer as insurgencies and rebellions within Homeworld began to rise (some ironically inspired by the actions of the Fireteam).

The Black Smoke of the Jets: Jets have the unique ability to produce and manipulate plumes of white smoke. This was used in multiple ways but generally as a distraction to cover escapes. It was also harmless. Seeing her team evolve and grow farther than Homeworld intended, Phage used her smoke to weaponize it. Using blight magic, she gave her team a touch of the magic found in her plagues. This turned their smoke black as well as making it toxic to organics and corrosive to non-organics.
